Futuroscope is one hours drive and is well worth spending the whole day in this theme park of the moving image staying late as the evening ends with a spectacular laser and firework display during the summer.

The wine growing regions of Bordeaux and the Loire valley are both within the scope of a days outing as is the pretty harbour town of La Rochelle on the atlantic coast.

Really local attractions , within 15 mins drive, include the Vallee des Singes, a park where monkeys of all sizes roam freely. Canoeing on the river Charente. A large outdoor swimming pool in Civray and horseriding.

The nearest small town is Civray, it is a market town, and we would recommend that you visit on market day to experience the buzz of local life. There are two markets each week, the main market on Tuesday and a smaller market on Friday.
